Abstract

Industry is an activity of processing semi-finished goods into finished goods, finished goods that have value for profit. Wood processing or furniture industry is one of the industrial sectors that continues to grow in Indonesia. Wood dust resulting from sawing and grinding activities will fly in the air and enter the respiratory organs which can cause complaints of respiratory problems in workers. Complaints of respiratory disorders are disorders that occur in organs from the nose to the alveoli. Workers often neglect the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Bekasi City is one of the industrial cities because of its location which is directly adjacent to various areas, such as the western part bordering the DKI Jakarta Province, the southern part bordering the Bogor Regency. The type of research used is a cross sectional analytical research method using the Chi Square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between age (p = 000), year of service (p =003, working hours (p = 000), and use of personal protective equipment(p = 000) with respiratory disorder. As for smoking habits, it was found that there was no significant relationship between smoking habits and respiratory disorders(p =0,738).
