Abstract

The research that has been carried out is entitled "The Influence of Rewards and Punishments on Learning Interests of Class V Students in Mathematics at MIS Al-Fathin Belawan". This research was conducted against the background of the low interest in learning of fifth grade students in mathematics learning activities and learning activities still use conventional models where learning activities are only teacher-centered. Even though an effective learning process is not only the teacher who actively delivers lessons, but also students who are active in thelearning process, actively ask questions and actively issue opinions and arguments. This study uses a quantitative research methodology with a Quasi Experimental research model. The population in this study was all fifth grade students of MIS Al-Fathin Belawan. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling, which means that all members of the population are used as research samples. Data collection techniques were carried out using a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used in this research is statistical analysis. The results of the study revealed that: (1) Based on the results of hypothesis testing using a simple linear regression test it is known that the value of Fcount = 7.603 with a significance level of 0.015 <0.05, the regression model can be used to predict the reward and punishment variable or in other words there is the effect of reward and punishment variable (X) on learning interest variable (Y). So that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, (2) the value of the correlation/relationship (R) is 0.580 with a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.336 or if it is percentaged to 33.6%. So that the effect of reward and punishment on learning interest is 33.6%.
