Abstract

Reading Comprehension is one of the problems faced by students, where in reading comprehension students are able to understand the meaning of an article. Many students are proficient in reading but many do not have difficulty understanding the intent and purpose of an article. From these rights, it is necessary to have a technique used to assist students in overcoming these difficulties, one of which is the TPS technique. This study was conducted to determine whether there is a significant effect on students' reading comprehension after applying the TPS technique at MTS Tarbiyah Islamiyah Hajoran. experimental research with a quasi- design used in this study involving 28 students of class B and 28 students of class C. Where class C was used as the experimental group and class B as the control group using random sampling. Data collection was obtained from the test results of 20 multiple choice questions which were divided into pre-test and post-test. Then, test was distributed into pre-test and post-test. In pre-test of control group (using conventional/lecturing technique) the mean is 46,42 and the post test 61,78 meanwhile in experiment group (using TPS technique) the mean of pre test is 54,64 and the mean of post test is 78,39. Therefore, it can be concluded that TPS technique gives significant effect on students’ reading comprehension at MTS Tarbiyah Islamiyah Hajoran.
