Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the students’ abilities in translating text from English to Indonesian. The research is designed as a quantitative descriptive method. The population of this research is 8th grade students of MTsN 2 Medan in 2021/2022 academic year. It consisted of 1 class that is VIII-2. This research used purposive sampling technique in deciding the sample. The samples were 27 students. To collect data the researcher gave a test to the students. The students were asked to translate descriptive text from English to Indonesian. The test result show that the minimum score is 33, the maximum score is 100. The mean score is 76. Based on the test results, it was found that 8 th grade students of MTsN 2 Medan especially VIII-2 were able to translate decriptive text from English to Indonesian.
