Abstract

This research aimed to find out whether there was a significant effect of using Guessing and Speculating Game with Pictures on Students Achievement in Speaking. This research was conducted by using the quantitative method, exactly experimental research. The samples used were two classes, they were A-1 which consisted of 25 students as the experimental class and the students of A-2 which consisted of 25 students as the control class. The instruments of collecting data used test. The result of the research was quite significant with the average scores of the experimental class were 49.5 for the pre-test and 80.4 for the post test, meanwhile the average scores for the control class were 49,5 for the pretest and 59,2 for the post-test. The result of the calculation using the t-test showed that t observed = 5,81 and t table was 0,05. It could be concluded that there was an effect between the students’ speaking achievements which were taught by using Guessing and Speculating Game with Pictures and the students’ who were not. There was improvement of the students’ achievement in speaking. Nevertheless, using Guessing and Speculating Game with Pictures during the teaching learning process could make the students more enthusiastic and more active in the class.
