Abstract
This article explored the the discourse on the tafsir ahkam (the interpretation of the legal verses) within the nuance of the law in Indonesia. It highted a brief survey of the development if the tafsir ahkam in Indonesia, in which it found that, there was a significant shift, especially after the Hainka, Hasbi and Abdul Halim Hasan generation, there was no single great mufassir (interpretor) who was interested in tafsir Ahkam, neither did M.Quraish Shihab. It is very obvious, that most of the hooks on the tafsir Ahkam which were recently published still maintain the elassiacal way of the tafsir ahkam. Not only the model such as Al- Maraghi, but also the discussion remain similar to that of Ali As-Sais and Ash-Shabuni. What the writers did ws repeating the opinion of thos early scholars. Perhaps, the courageous Hasbi Ash-Shiddiqy, Hamka and Abdul Halim Hasan were worthy to be appreacited for the gallant to do interpretation on their own opinion had made the interpretation of the legal verses of the 20th century looked very dynamic.
