Abstract
This research is to understand the thoughts of Shaykh H. Azra'i Abdurrauf, a charismatic cleric in North Sumatra. He is a hafiz of the Qur'an, masters the knowledge of the Qur'an, Arabic, and other Islamic sciences. He has a lot of work in teaching Islamic sciences, especially the Qur'anic knowledge at home and abroad. His position as a scholar who is a scholar of science and knowledge of qiraat sab'ah, is strengthened by his existence as a Board of Judges (jury) of MTQ in international events such as in the homeland, Makkah al-Mukarramah, and neighboring countries of Malaysia. This is important to see his perspective on the development of Qur'anic knowledge.
