Abstract
This research was conducted in order to find out the effect of using cartoon film in learning reading comprehension. The research was designed by the quantitative research design. The population of the research was the 98 students of second grade students in MTs Nurul Hakim Modern Boarding School Tembung. The sample of the research was the 30 students of VIII A as the experiment class and the 30 students of VIII B as the control class. The instrument used for collecting data were taken by test which divided into pre-test and post-test. After analyzing the data, the writer found that the experiment class showed the higher average score in the post-test. The total score was 2385 with the total average score was 79,5 while the average of the control class was 2115 and average was 70,5. To examine the hypothesis the writer used t-test. From the t-test result was obtained that the calculation presented the tobserved > ttable , where the tobserved was 6,422 and the ttable was 1,671 with α = 0,05 %. The result of the calculation was quenched the criteria of determining the accepted hypothesis. Therefore, it can be concluded that the using cartoon film in reading comprehension has effect
