Abstract

The development of Information Technology (IT) has given advantages to library services, including that of academic library. The advantages range from providing the services to the users in forms of OPAC, internet access and digital collection management. Focusing on the role of IT in the academic library, the author elaborates in detail what constitutes a digital library and the development of Information Management System. She emphasizes the important of IT, especially the internet, in providing the service to the library users that consist of students, lecturers, and researchers. She affirms the ideal must-given service in a Higher Education environment
