Abstract

Keywords: Writing Recount Text, Collaborative Writing Strategy This study was focused on the effect of collaborative writing strategy on students’ achievement in writing recount text. The objective of this study was to find out if there was a significant effect of collaborative writing strategy on students’ achievement in writing recount text. It was conducted by using experimental research design. The population of this study was the second grade student of junior high school in Mts. Al-Washliyah Tembung. Two classes was taken as the sample of this research. The class VIII-1 was as the experimental group and the class VIII-5 was as the control group. The experimental group was taught by using Collaborative writing strategy, while the control group was taught by using conventional method. The instrument of collecting data was writing test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result showed that the value of t-observed is higher than the value of t-table. (17.02 > 1.667 (α = 0.05)) with the degree of freedom (df) = 78. Based on the data analysis of the study, the result indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that there is the significant effect of using Collaborative writing strategy on student achievement in writing recount text.
