Abstract

The method used in this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR), which the researcher works collaboratively with the English teacher. The research was conducted in two cycles, every cycle consist of two meetings. The research was conducted following: Planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data used in this research such as pre-test and posttest, interview sheet, observation sheet, and document sheet. The result of the data analysis showed that the score of students increased from the first meeting namely cycle I until the last cycle meeting namely cycle II. It was showed from the mean of orientation test was 61 there was 19.44% (7 students) who derived the score above the criteria of minimum completeness (KKM). There was 86.11% (21 students) who derived the score above the criteria of minimum completeness (KKM). In the post test of cycle II the mean of the posttest of cycle II was 82 and the percentage was 86.11% (31 students) who derived the score above the criteria of minimum completeness (KKM). In other words, the student’s ability in writing narrative text improved. Based on the observation, it showed that the motivation of the students was also improved.
