Abstract

Red guava (Psidium guajava L.) is a horticultural product that contains four times more vitamin C than oranges, vitamin A which is good for eye health, vitamin B, magnesium, potassium and low calorie. Vegetative propagation of red guava plants by cuttings method has a relatively low success rate, so growth regulators are needed to stimulate the growth of cuttings. The use of growth regulators with the right concentration is a very important supporting factor for the growth of plant cuttings. This study aims to determine the response of growth regulators of shallot extract, aloe extract and bean sprout extract to the growth of guava cuttings (Psidium guajava L.) and to determine the best concentration of growth regulators for the growth of red guava cuttings. This research was conducted at Jl. Lap. Golf, Tuntungan II, Kec. Pancur Batu, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra and chlorophyll content analysis was conducted at the Agriculture Laboratory of the University of North Sumatra. This research was conducted in early August - late September 2023. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 12 treatments of growth regulators, namely shallot extract at concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30%, aloe vera extract at concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30%, bean sprout extract at concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30% and synthetic growth regulators at concentrations of 10%, 20% and 30%.The parameters in the study were the number of leaves, root length, chlorophyll, shoot length and percentage of cuttings growth. The results showed that the best concentration treatment of growth regulators was bean sprouts extract at a concentration of 20% and shallot extract at a concentration of 20% where this had a significant impact on the parameters of the percentage of live cuttings, number of leaves, root length, shoot length and leaf chlorophyll content.
