Abstract

This study discusses how to resolve conflicts in the life of Javanese transmigration in Paya Tungel Village, Jagong Jeget District with mediation and reconciliation through customary law of the Islamic community in Gayo land, the community in Jagong Jeget sub-district is very dependent on customary legal rules / fines applied by indigenous people in Gayo land, in customary law / rules in the social system of the Islamic community in Jagong Jeget which plays a role in settlements the conflict is TuhaPeut (Village Government). This research uses descriptive qualitative research method because qualitative research method helps to get a more in-depth explanation and researchers will interview four informants who are TuhaPeut (Village Government) in Paya Tungel Village. This research results that in general conflict resolution in Paya Tungel uses mediation and reconciliation methods, with the sanctions / laws used for conflicts that occur, the purpose is none other than to provide a deterrent effect to the perpetrators and these gayo customary rules will usually be guided by Tuha Peut (Village Government) if the problem cannot be resolved familially. So, the matter will be processed by witness/Gayo customary law in force. Therefore, Ralf Dahrendorf uses mediation and reconciliation methods in resolving conflicts, Dahrendorf also suggests that conflict resolution can be done in two ways, namely through compromise (Consensus) which is done by acknowledging differences in interests and finding common ground that is acceptable to all parties involved.
