Abstract
Cancer is a condition that frequently threatens human health. The lack of public awareness of the signs, symptoms, and primary causes of cancer is one of the factors contributing to the daily rise in the death rate from the disease. Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma is a cancer that affects people and has the potential to be fatal. In Indonesia, where NPC is one of the top five malignant tumors with the greatest frequency, Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) is the most prevalent malignant tumor among ENT malignant tumors (along with cervical cancer, breast tumors, lymph tumors and skin tumors). There are a number of techniques that may be used to diagnose nasopharyngeal cancer, including the Dempster Shafer technique. The Dempster Shafer method is a mathematical approach to proof that combines disparate bits of information (evidence) to estimate the likelihood of an occurrence. It is based on belief functions and reasonable reasoning. According to the above description, it is required to create an expert system employing the Dempster Shafer approach that will aid medical professionals and the general public in identifying Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) cancer signs early on. So that many people will be able to use this system to become aware of the diseases that affect the neck and head, more specifically the Nasopharyngeal region, in order to treat them as soon as feasible.
