Abstract

Currently the role of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) is very vital, apart from being an aspect of protecting the workforce it also plays a role in protecting company assets. Based on the initial survey obtained by researchers at the company, the incidence of work accidents at PT. Guthrie Pecconina Indonesia Palembang City occurs almost every month. This accident is also related to negligence in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) because there are still many workers who are trivial about safety while working. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between PPE and work accidents in workers in division II of oil palm plantations at PT. Guthrie Pecconina. This research is a quantitative research. The research design used was a cross-sectional research design which aimed to determine the relationship between the use of personal protective equipment and work accidents in workers in Division II of oil palm plantations at PT. Guthrie Pecconina. The sample in this study was the total sampling method where all populations were used as research samples totaling 68 people. This study found that the use of PPE is still lacking. In addition, the provision of PPE has been facilitated by the company, but the awareness of the workers is an aspect of the occurrence of accidents while working. The conclusion drawn from this study is that the majority of workers who have experienced work accidents are 54 respondents (79.4%). It is hoped that employees will care about their own safety and health by implementing SOPs when working, namely using PPE so as to minimize the occurrence of work accidents while working.
