Abstract

Solid waste of hazardous and toxic materials (B3) produced by hospitals can cause disruption to health and the environment, if the handling or management process is carried out not properly and correctly. The purpose of this study is to analyze the process of managing medical solid waste of hazardous and toxic materials (B3) at RSU Haji Medan in 2022. This type of research is qualitative with direct interview and observation methods, so that an analysis and description of the process of managing solid waste of hazardous and toxic materials (B3) can be obtained at RSU Haji Medan. The collection of research subjects was carried out by purposive sampling by selecting informants directly related to the management of solid waste of hazardous and toxic materials (B3). The object of study is all rooms producing solid waste of hazardous and toxic materials (B3). From the results of observations that have been made, a total score of 400 is obtained, which means that it has not met the requirements of permenkes regulation Number 7 of 2019 and has a negative impact, namely causing a risk of pollution to the environment and disturbances to health. It is hoped that RSU Haji Medan can take care of the incinerator permit, as well as carry out improvements to suggestions and infrastructure related to the management of hazardous and toxic solid waste (B3)
