Abstract

This research will identify the relationship between a local culture and the application of mathematical concepts known as ethnomathematics. The object that is focused on in this research is a Langkat woven songket, which this object as part of historical relics from Langkat North Sumatra. Descriptive qualitative is the research method used in this research using an ethnograph approach linking ethnomathematical, which analyzes the connection between mathematical concepts and local culture. The results of this implementation reveal that in the culture of the Malay Langkat songket woven fabric, there are mathematical concepts related, namely the concept of sets and geometric transformations. It is hoped that this research can be used as reference material for inspiration so that educators want to use an ethnomathematical approach as a learning style that can increase interest in learning mathematics.
