Abstract
Word Health Organization (WHO) submits recommendations for exclusive breastfeeding 6 months and MPASI afterwards, while still providing breast milk for up to 2 years. The decision was adopted by the Indonesian government in 2004 through the Ministry of Health N0. 450/Menkes/SK/IV/by setting a target of exclusive breastfeeding of 6 months by 80%. However, exclusive breastfeeding in the Puskesmas Galang in 2020 amount 38,3% has not reached the Renstra Kemenkes RI (strategic plan) target of 50%. This study aims to find out the factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding in the Galang Health Center Work Area. The type of research used in this research is quantitative with cross sectional design. The sample in the study was mothers who had babies from 0-6 months. Sampling techniques using Proposive Sampling. Data analysis using the Chi Square statistical test with a value of ɑ = 0.05. The results of the study were obtained from 87 respondents, the proportion of mothers who gave exclusive breast milk by 41.4% and those who did not provide exclusive breast milk by 58.6%. The conclusion in the study was that there was a relationship between the variables of education, employment, knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding, and no relationship between the age variable and the role of the birth helper against the provision of Exclusive Breast Milk in the working area of Puskesmas Galang. It is expected that for health workers, efforts need to be made to improve exclusive breastfeeding programs such as counseling and socialization about exclusive breastfeeding
